4\" dingley aluminium fly reel. This reel was made for Westley Richards & Co. LTD, Birmingham. It is in fantastic condition for it\'s age, being nearly 100 years old! This reel looks almost unused with very minimal wear! A beautiful, classic reel from the expert reel makers of England! It is made from aluminium and retains most of it\'s original black lead finish. It has an ivorine handle and the spool is held in by a brass telephone latch. This reel has an unfiled smooth brass foot. On the back of the reel, it is stamped \"Westley Richards & Co. Ltd Birmingham\" On the side of the reel, there is a brass tension adjustment mechanism. There is a small crack in the frame of this mechanism (see photos). The spool is caged/pillared on the inside. Inside the reel, it is stamped \"D1\", indicating Dingley\'s first check mechanism. This mechanism is in perfect condition and has had little use. The reel has a nice, smooth action.
