This is an antique/vintage German hen/chicken on nest paper mache or composition candy container. It is not signed. It is in very good vintage condition with several little flaws that I will point out. The hen measures 4.75\" in length, 3.5\" in width through the wings, and 4\" in height. The round cardboard base measures 3.25\" in diameter and is covered in old Easter grass. In picture 3, I have used a painted soda can as a size comparison. The cardboard base is a bit warped. You may be able to see it best in pictures 4 and 6 (left side). It doesn\'t lie flat - misses the surface of the table by .25\". It isn\'t terribly noticeable, but worth mentioning. In picture 9, you see the hen removed from the base. Straight down beneath the head at the opening to the cavity, you see a surface hairline crack that runs 5/8\" in length. It doesn\'t go all the way through the plaster or mache, and it should be all right. The only other thing to point out is in pictures 8 & 10, again on the cardboard base, the cardboard sleeve that fits up into the hen is a replacement. It measures 1 7/8\" x 1 3/8\", and is 1 1/16\" in height. Picture 7 shows the bottom of the piece. Pictures 8 & 10 show the cardboard, grass covered base removed from the hen.
