ThisOuter Space Set made by Archer Plastics, New York, NY, was one of my husband’schildhood toys. He is now 69 years youngand remembers playing with the set, but feels it should belong to someone whowould want it for their collection. The graphics on this set are vintage 50sand very fun. The metal pieces are invery good condition, but there is some rust on this set and I have done my bestto show this in the photos. Pleasereview the photos for the exact amount and type of pieces that areincluded. For your convenience, I havelisted these parts:

Space port with a runway

8” tall antenna tower with a radar screen, this item fits into slots on top of the space port

6 metallic-type plastic space men (4 green, 1purple and 1 brown)

2 brown robots

Large red space car

5 part yellow space ship with 2 black fins – a few of the pieces are chipped

4 part red space ship with 3 black fins – a few of the of the pieces are chipped

2 helmets, one is taped ( I found one of the helmets after I took the photos and it is not shown)

2 wires that attach to the space port

Original Box – parts of the box are in verygood condition, but there are areas that are softandpartially deteriorated

TheArcher Outer Space Set was manufactured by the U.S. Metal Toy ManufacturingCompany for Archer Plastics (based in Elmherst, New York) beginning in 1952.Known best for their plastic space men and some plastic space cars, Archerintroduced this toy as a space play set that did not have any radio ortelevision show tie-ins. Instead the toy invited creative play by putting thechild in the role of the space engineer. The box read, \"All parts easilyassembled by the junior spaceman mechanic.\" Opening the flat roof of thespace port created a \"landing strip\" for two toy spaceships that wereincluded in the set and provided a stage for the plastic space men that wouldalso have accompanied the space port.
