Description Asuperblarge rare English antiqueVictorian solid silverand cranberry glass double-ended scent bottle in the form of a pair of binoculars, in lovely condition and dating from around 1870. Excellent quality genuine 140+ year old example, stunning sought-after \"binoculars\" design, with a hinged centre allowing the bottles to split in the middle, and with a solid silver gilt screw lid on one side and a hinged silver flip-top lid on the other. Nice faceted decoration on the glass bottles and with the original gilded finish on the silver mounts. Engraved on the ends with a handsome period gothic monogram and also a fine period estate crest.
MeasurementsLarge size, measures approx.5.2 inches (131mm)inlength x1.2inches (30mm)in diameter. Date Antique Victorian solid silver, unmarked as is quite normal with genuine 19th Century silver scent bottles as they are rarely hallmarked, but 100% guaranteed solid silveranddating from around 1870. ConditionLovely condition,and ready to be used. Nosplits or cracks to the silver mounts, no solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents, just a couple of very minor shallow age-related surface bruises on the end caps, really nothing much at all. The threaded silver screw lid screws up tightly and thehinged sprung silver flip-top lid works perfectly and opens and closes securely.The faceted glass bottles are insuperb condition withno chips orcracks, a very minor edge nibbleon one of the openings, really nothing and almost definitely part of original manufacture.
