Here we have another form of the very hard to find Dale Hall Pottery by T.J & J Mayer, Longport.Once again, as you can see in the photographs, this plate has the distinctlyregal yet soft blue thatactually is slightly upraised and rippled, as if it were water, and the deep well formed Grapevinesand clumps of grapes spreadacross the plate.
All I can do is call these a Dessert Serving Plate with handle as I have no other idea what they can be.They measure 9 3/8\" across, 10\" where the handle is and are a nice scooped shape so they are 1 3/4\" deep.
These come directly from the original Victorian Estate in New England to you. Let me try to impress uponyou that they truly look as if they were never used theyare all in such beautiful condition. There are no blemishesto be found in the glazed design on top. The backs are not glazed so there is no crazing thereeither.
There are a few hard to see tiny places where it looks like a bubble may have popped in the vine area but eventhat I can not tell if it is just part of the creationor perhaps something that happens in the making, just like tinysand dips in glass. If you are concerned please let me know I can send you a close up.Not every plate has them.
Based on the clear markings on the back there is no doubt in my mind that these are mid 1850\'s.
