Very good condition and guaranteed original mid-1800’sEuropean Naval cutlass that I believe is of British origin. I have not beenable to find an exact model. Sword has a crown proof mark on the left side ofthe blade and a “2” stamped on top of the guard. 23 ¾” blade has original brightfinish with a little gray and some light grind marks near the tip. Edge has afew nicks and dings. Brass guard and backstrap have beautiful blackened finishand attractive dark patina. Wood grip shows some normal wear and handling marks,and one small crack.Fitted in correct original leather scabbard that has brass throatand tip. Leather is soft and supple with some normal wear, stitching andstaples are nice and tight. Brass fittings have nice darkened finish and a fewdents. An interesting sword that will make a fine addition to your collectionand warrants further research.
