Cast Iron "TWO FROGS" Mechanical Bank Original Antique Americana Toy
Price: US $945.00

Tonight I am listingan antique original cast iron Mechanical Bank. The bankis being listed with . This is the 'TWO FROGS"Mechanical Bankmanufactured by the J.& E. Stevens Co. This bank was recently listed and sold on ; however, the buyer failed to make the payment. On the other hand, this provides interested collectors another opportunity to purchase this wonderful bank. The bank was designed by James Bowen and was patented August 8, 1882. There are no cracks, break or other damage and the bank is in excellent condition. The bank retains much of the original paint which isstill evident after all these years. This is a superb example of the "Two Frogs" bank. Thelast picture is from an ad in Ehrich's Quarterly in the winter of 1882. At that time it was referred to as the "Bullfrog" bank.

To operate, a coin is placed on the coin rest held by the front legs of the frog lying on its back. The lever in back of the large frog is then pressed down. This causes the movable leg of the small frog to kick the coin from its rest as the large frog opens his mouth and the coin is deposited. The action is quick and effective. Releasing the lever causes the moving parts to return to their original position.

The bank is in proper working order and has the typical Stevens' coin trap. The bank is approximately 8 1/2" long, 3 1/2" wide and 4 1/2" high. This is a great opportunity to make thisoutstanding bank a part of your collection.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL buyers!
