An attractive example of a traditional Chinese coin sword, dating to the 20th century or earlier.
The coin sword constructed made from cash coins attached to a central iron rod using a “lucky” red string.
Used mostly in southern China, coin-swords were used as spiritual guardians to chase off malign spirits, especially those that caused fever, they were considered most effective when the coins all had the same inscription.
