Very good condition Civil War US Model 1850 Foot Officersword. This interesting piece has a guaranteed original German made blade, butwas later re-hilted with a cast brass grip. Possibly done for veteranorganization or motion picture use, etc. Blade has the WKC king headmanufacturer trademark on the left side of the blade. Right side of blade hasHORSTMANN & SONS PHILDELPHIA retailer markings, and blade spine is markedIRON PROOF. Blade has beautiful original engraving on each side with militarymotifs, U.S., and the American eagle. 34” blade has nice original bright finishwith a little gray and brown. Very nice original edge and tip with no nicks ordings, blade still has original leather washer at the base. Brass hilt hasfloral designs, and pommel is marked “SCS” and “WCS”. Features a pebble graingrip that has blackened finish and was designed to imitate the originalrayskin. Fitted in guaranteed original steel scabbard that has mixed gray,bright, and brown patina and no dents.
