This packet contains approx 1 oz (about 6 teaspoons) of crystals which will make about 1 gallon of gel when hydrated with tap water. Distilled and R/O water makes the largest gel pieces. High mineral content or salt in the water reduces the gel size. The crystals store forever. The prepared gel lasts years in a sealed container. These crystals do not contain calcium. These crystals absorb 400 times their weight in water and will allow your insects to drink without bacteria buildup with no chance of drowning. These are LARGE 2-4 mm crystals. I also have these in MEDIUM .9-2 mm crystal size (the preferred size for use in soil, houseplants and cooling bandannas). Just leave a note at purchase of how many you would like in the medium size.
These crystals are used for crafts, floral arrangements, cool clothing, garden soil moisture control, humidors and decorating. When put in soil they release water as the soil dries out and absorb water when there is excess. They are absolutely non-toxic, and contain no vitamins or food value.
