Reproduction rubber-coated helical coil Danish modern (Hvidt, Selig, Wegner, etc.) sofa and chair seat cushion support straps; given that these original straps are VERY difficult to find in almost any size, let alone one specific to your vintage furniture, I have managed to produce reproduction replacement straps that have served my furniture restorations very well. Straps are black (as opposed to the original brown) and are actually sturdier than the originals, with the only difference being a discreet sleeve/seam at where the two ends meet to form the loop. When ordering, please indicate the length required (up to 36"; longer dimensions will involve a slight increase in cost), and the straps will be produced to order approx. 5% shorter than the length required to accommodate a tense and tight fit -- see directions below on how to provide the measurement.

MEASUREMENT CALCULATION: After making the purchase, the buyer needs to provide me with the precise length -- from outer tip-to-tip -- of the semi-circular grooves on opposite sides of the seat frame -- see third picture for visual guide on determining this measurement. Using this measurement, I calculate the circumference for the strap so that it fits tightly and provides adequate tension (this is important, even though it might involve a bit of work to stretch the strap and fit it into the grooves). Please provide this dimension either through a message or with a note accompanying the Paypal transaction.
RECOMMENDED INSTALLATION TECHNIQUEPlease keep in mind that these reproduction replacement straps are not a 'one-size-fits-all' solution to work with any chair. Even with a proper measurement provided by the customer, there is a limit to how much stretching and stress the strap joint can handle before potentially breaking. With that in mind, please remember that when stretching the strap to fit onto the chair frame to minimize the stress on the joint. This is the recommended handling technique to ensure that you do not break the strap while installing it:
i) Loop one end of the strap on the chair frame's semi-circular groove and position the joint so that it is towards the end near the other opposite end groove (the joint does not have to be centred on the chair frame span, especially if it will not be visible such as under the seat cushion, etc.)ii) Grab the entire strap with your fist at a spot just BEFORE the joint and firmly and slowly tug/stretch the strap enough toward the other groove to set it in place, using your free hand/finger to make the added minimal stretch to be able to press it into place
IMPORTANT: The buyer is responsible for providing the measurement (indicated above) when placing the order. The straps cannot be produced and the order cannot be delivered unless this measurement is provided. I will only remind the buyer twice to provide this measurement if they have not already done so. If the buyer does not provide the measurement within 60 days following the purchase date, the order will be cancelled and a refund for the purchase will not be issued.
