Dug In Maine - 179(?) Washington One Cent (?) Words On Rim
Price: US $235.50

Hi!

I dug this coin a couple months back in something supposedly called a \"leech field\". I was granted access to detect around one of the old town houses, that\'s now used as a church, and while detecting someone came out and suggested a spot to me where ceremonies were held in the early 1800\'s. He said \"it\'s now a leech field but you should be all set to dig.\" I still have yet to figure out what that means, but he sure gave me a good spot! Tons of buttons, a token, a Ulysses S Grant campaign medal, and this coin!

Based off the lettering that is legible, I can make out the words \"Washington\" (obverse), and on the reverse \"one cent.\" I am assuming these to be the obverse and reverse, by the way. I know very little about coins and I could be completely wrong..

On the \"obverse\", I can also make out the letters \"PRE\" which I\'m going to assume it\'s president? And I\'m pretty sure the person on the front of the coin is George Washington? The date is pretty difficult to read as well, I do see a \"179\" but the fourth number is a little too difficult to read (especially with my poor eyesight lol.) Also, around the rim reads \"United States of America.\"

Honestly this coin is very beat up. Everything I pulled out of that field came out in poor condition, as the soil was soft and mushy and I would imagine corrosive. I didn\'t clean the coin - I never clean coins unless it\'s clad - however I do carry a bottle of purified water with me on my hunts and poured a small amount just to reveal whatever I could from it. Essentially in my opinion it is not in \"horrible\" condition. I mean, the back of the coin has pretty much all the details on it. The front is in a little worse of shape... But I know that those who collect coins have a certain grading criteria that is followed and set accordingly, and my opinion is basically worthless lol.

But if you have any questions please feel free to message me and I will get back to you right away! I appreciate you reading this and happy offerding! :)
