Early American Earthenware Lead Glaze Wedding Pitcher Pottery
Price: US $159.50

This is a phenomenal early earthenware lead-glazed weddingpitcher. The concentric rings are knownto signify the bond of a wedding ring. Made likely as a wedding gift. Ialso affectionately call this the baseball pitcher! The yellow & green lead glaze finish isfantastic. Super strong and well made handle. Obviously a well-loved itemwhich I purchased many years ago.Initially I was told it may have been made in Edgefield, SC, but I donot believe that is correct. I dobelieve it is an early 19th century American piece. There is a small possibility it is of Spanishorigin, then probably the timeframe is instead the late 18th century. The pitcher stands 8.5” by 7.5” maxwidth. The only ‘damage’ of note isaround the pitcher spout there are a few short hairlines, they are tight andcan be barely felt. Below them theselines don’t continue on the inside of the pitcher. Also pictured on the inside toward the handleis a nearly vertical line-this is not on the outside and is under theglaze. Also the footed base has somenicks from general ware.
