EARLY~CAST IRON 4 WAY~\"C & O\" RAILROAD~ELECTRIC CABOOSE LAMP~NO RESERVE~U.S.A.~
Price: US $746.00

Hello and thank you for taking the time to view my sale listing. While out picking a few weeks ago, I met a very respectable older fella. I was referred to him by a mutual friend, because he knows I buy railroad memorabilia. I especially focus and utilize the resources at my disposal, of local Virginian Railways. This fella was originally from Ohio, and worked for the C & O Railroad, as his father did before him. This, now retired, 2nd generation, railroad Conductor invited me into look at some of his personal property. It\'s hard for me to put on a poker face when confronted with the sight of signs, lanterns, Lamps, railroad locks and keys, he had it everywhere! Now the tough part was..... Trying to negotiate a few pieces that he wasn\'t too attached to and was willing to part with.. His buddies painted the base of this,C&O Caboose lamp gold as a \"retirement\" present and he just hung onto it. He had others and was willing to sell me this one. It has (2) 5\" red (bulls eye) lenses, (1) 5\" blue (1) 5\" amber. All four lenses are original and marked KOPP glass. The porcelain bulb fixture is the original porcelain fixture. This lamp was bolted with 4 bolts and secured to a base plate on the rear of the caboose. The lamp is able to be easily rotated to the desired color lens, and then secured in that position by pulling up in the cast iron lever. There is one position where you line up a notch on the base of the cast iron 4 way top, with a spot that matches on the cast base. Then the top can be removed or replaced on the base to couple together. Other than the painted base, everything else your are seeing hear is genuine C&Orailroad equipment. The top has 64945 cast into the design of this lamp. There is a few small chips on a few lenses, but nothing major. Please take a look at all 12 detailed photos and you decide. As ya\'ll know, this solid cast iron unit is very heavy. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will reply promptly. The shipping cost includes insurance & tracking numbers, for any items over $100.00. I ship items within a couple days of cleared payment. If the amount you pay for shipping is more than actual shipping cost, I will refund your account after I ship. I would expect the same in return, if the amount I estimate for shipping is more than you pay, I need to be reimbursed as well. I am only charging what it cost to get your item(s) to my customers. I also need all payments made on items won, within \"3 days\" of the ending of this sale, please. I will be listing other items that you might be interested in, Please check back and see what I have to offer. It may be something you want! I appreciate you looking and your consideration on this item. Best of luck and Happy offerding. I was able to get a few other cool items and will be updating them very soon to my listings. ***UPDATE***~~~ I have been informed by an expert in American Railroad item & history, about this item listed. He informed me that this item is Not in fact a C&O railroad lamp!! This is instead a very RARE item exclusive to, PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD~ It was either used on a \"PENNSY STEAM CLASS\" LOCOMOTIVE,or Marker light. He has blueprints with the exact lamp and is was made by HANDLAN-BUCK..... I then called the fella, I purchased this item from and inquired further. He then called the person he previously worked with on the C&O RR. He knew which one of his buddies donated it for his going away retirement present. He had bugged his buddy for the lamp for years and would never part with it. Apparently the fella he got it from had a father who was an engineer on the PRR, in the late 1800\'s, and later retired in the 1920\'s. I just didn\'t want to be misleading, about my listing. I was only going on the information at the time of my listing. After a offer was made, this is the only revision I can make to inform anyone considering this RARE, steam loco era, piece of history.. I appreciate your time looking at this sale listing and keep an eye out for other items I will be listing.. Thank you, Aron
