A rare 1840’s midnight blue velvet poke bonnet. The bonnet has an extended long front brim. The back crown area is decorated with bands of midnight blue velvet and there is a large velvet bow at the back neck area. The bonnet is trimmed with a black ostrich feather that appears to be a later adornment. The inside is lined with white silk and buckram. The bonnet is in very good condition.
