Being offered is an Exquisite RARE Pair of Antique 19th C. Hippolyte Boulenger & Co. Choisy Le Roi French Hand-Painted Sconces. The company was in business from 1860 until 1910, these pieces are dated 83 & 87 (1883 & 1887) on the front with an owl next to each date most likely the artist\'s mark. One sconce has hand-written French script on the back and the other has the impressed HB & Co. Choisy Le Roi mark. The oval concave hand-painted plaques depict a harlequin with lute and women in fancy attire. The cast gilt metal frames and hinged candle sconces are molded & beaded and feature ribbons, bows and Bacchus heads. These sconces have been electrified and are in excellent working condition. Both of the plaques are in EXCELLENT CONDITION with no chips, cracks or restorations showing virtually no signs of wear to the hand-painted motif, there is no crazing except for some very light crazing found on the back of the harlequin w/ lute plaque, there is no crazing on the front. The sconces are approx. 18 1/2\" x 10\" in diameter, the oval plaques themselves approx. 13 1/2\" x 7 1/2\" in diameter.
