These original documents represent the truly extraordinary career of Master Sgt Pete Tihansky. M/Sgt Tihansky\'s Army career spanned from 1940-1961. He served in the famous First Special Service Force, the 11th Airborne and the 101st Airborne. Documents Include:Enlisted Record and report of separation Honorable Discharge. This document records his service in the First Special Service Force (Devils Brigade, Black Devils)Among other information this document shows his awards and campaign history. Battles listed:Aleutian Islands, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe
Among the awards listed is: One Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Paratroop Badge and Bronze Arrowhead lapel Button. This is an impressive document! (See photos.)Bronze Star (Certificate not medal), Awarded for actions in the \"Mediterranean Theater of Operations on or about 3 December 1943\" I believe this would have been during the units fighting represented in the movie \"The Devils Brigade\" (see Photo)A commendation form the Department of the Secretary of State of Montana. It is for his service in The First Special Security Force and it also appears that he may have served as some type of advisor for the movie \"The Devils Brigade\". (see photo)11th Airborne Division NCO Academy Certificate 1955Third Army Certificate of Training 1956Army Commendation Medal certificate 1961Honorable Discharge certificate 1955Appointment to Master Sergeant Certificate 1950Mine Warfare Indoctrination, Phase 2, Instructor training Certificate 1953Honorable Discharge certificate 1949Commendation Ribbon with Metal Pendant certificate 19555 letters of commendation from 1949-1960Certificate of Retirement 1 March 1961And a verterans Administration document from 1969 regarding coverage for injuries recieved durring combat. Including back injuries from combat jumps and frost bite. All documents show their age but do not have rips hole or disfiguring stains. The have some folds, edge ware and discoloration that I would consider normal. I tried to show the items as best I could in the photos. Just too much material to show individually. (See Photos) There is some information about Pete Tihansky not represented in these documents that I found out from running some searches. He was Severely injured in Combat in Sunchon Korea in 1950 but returned to duty shortly after. He lived in Cleveland Ohio when he enlisted but resided in Montana after his retirement from the Army. He died in 1973. He is buried in Helena Montana, where he did his training for the First Special Service Force. I am happy to answer any questions I am able. Thank you for looking.
