Description Asuperb large-sized Englishantique18th Century George IIIsolid sterling silverbun pepper potcaster by the silversmiths Thomas & Jabez Daniell, (1772-1773),and with full English silver hallmarks for London 1772. Excellent qualitygenuine 244 year oldsterling silver example, from this short-lived partnership, withits original tight-fitting pull-off silver pierced lid and with attractive reeded decoration. Unusual larger size and importantly with no added personal engraved inscriptions.
MeasurementsMeasures approx.4.3 inches (109mm) inheight,and is2.15 inches (54mm) in diameter.
Date English antique18th Century George IIIsolid sterling silver,with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1772, (date letter \"R\"). Also stamped with an early lion passant/gardantsterling silver mark and alsothe crowned leopards head stamp of the London assay office.Excellent clear struck marks. No marks on the pierced lid, but again quite normal and is almost certainly the original.
Maker silversmiths initials \"I.D & I.D\", (Thomas & Jabez Daniell,1772-1773).
ConditionLovely antique condition,and ready to be used. Nosplits or cracksand no nasty knocks or dents, a nice clean example. Possible tiny little old seam repair on the body, honestly nothing.The pierced silver pull-off lid has no damage to the pierced work and is almostdefinitely the original and isthe perfect tight fit.
