This is a gorgeous piece of vintage Weller pottery cat tails bowl (also often fondly referred to as the \"lily pad line\". This may be part of the Kingfisher console set. The huge bowl has the Weller mark on the bottom and it also looks like the letter \"D\" on the bottom (likely the artist\'s mark / initial). This item is circa 1920. The bowl is in excellent shape, with absolutely no chips or cracks at all. There is some signs of prior use / water marks? in the interior as seen in the photos. There is also some black marks on the surface of one area also as seen in the pictures, including the close up of it. It might be removable but I did not scrub at it, not sure what it is, feels smooth, and it is on the bottom of the bowl. There is also craquelure as expected. This is a huge centerpiece bowl, approximately almost 17 inches across top diameter, bottom diameter is approximately 6 inches, and it rises approximately 3 1/2 inches from the table. It weighs 7.5 pounds. Weller pottery was founded in Ohio in 1872 by Samuel Weller, moved to Zanesville, Ohio until it closed in 1948.
