Up for sale is a very rare and important French .950 sterling silver chocolate pot with period Napoleon Bonaparte Royal service armorial. The chocolate pot is a very fine example that has a very nice earlier 19th century French Empire design. The chocolate pot still shows nice remnants of its gold gilding throughout the exterior, and still retains all its gilding to the interior. The chocolate pot has a superbly etched French period armorial that I am told indicates this pot is from a Royal service belonging to Napoleon Bonaparte. The chocolate pot is hallmarked for the important and highly sought after French Empire Period Royal silversmith Jean-Charles Cahier (1772-1849).

The pot shows some wear and very minor imperfections consistent with its early antique age as seen. The pot is overall in substantially fine condition with no large dints, marks, or repairs of any kind. The pot displays very nicely measuring 8 3/4 inches long, by 3 3/4 inches wide, and 5 1/2 inches tall. The pot has a quality weight of 568 grams.

I have included some results of other period Jean-Charles Cahier silver examples that have sold at higher end sales to show the good investment potential and value such examples can have, let alone the value added by important Royal provenance. I doubt the opportunity to acquire such an example outside a major sale house with their very high reserves and immense buyer’s premiums happens very often.
