Listed this week is an exceptional and important estate collection of Chinese Works of Art. This sale will span over three days with hundreds of superb and rarely found examples being offered, surely being one of our finest sales to date. This day two of the sale consists mainly of Chinese paintings. Many of the paintings listed I have no idea about. The paintings are from a prominent Toronto estate collection. The collectors were very wealthy and knowledgeable collectors so I would urge you to have a good look through the pieces being offered. I am sure there are a number of treasures to be found!

Up for sale is an Original Pair of Extremely Rare c1822 Imperial Brocade Silk Daoguang Emperor’s Edicts. The two edicts are fully guaranteed to be authentic and original c1822 imperial examples. I am told the edicts are dated to the second year of the Daoguang reign, 1822. The edicts are complete with both the Chinese and Manchu edicts with imperial emperors seals. From what I have been told the edicts talk about a certain individual being put up by many ranks by the emperor which was very rarely done so this person must have done something very important and very pleasing for the Emperor. The imperial silk brocade the edicts are written on does show some fading and small imperfections but as you can see overall for their early age they are in substantially good original and very legible condition. The silk edicts themselves have a sight measurement of 38 1/2 inches wide by 11 1/2 inches tall each. The frames measures 44 1/2 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches tall. This is possibly the only authentic imperial edict set that has been offered on , and something that will most like not be seen again for a very long time! As you can see I was able to find a similar edict dated the exact same year that recently sold. During the Chinese revolution almost all of these imperial edicts were destroyed so they are extremely hard to find today.
