Offered is a 19th C woven hair wreath made with several different colors of hair, beads and pearls. The wreath is in a shadow box frame 20.5\" long, 18\" wide, 4\" deep. It is faux rosewood made of gesso over wood. The inside bezel is gilded and there is glass over the wreath. The wreath itself is 12\" in diameter and uses dark and light brown, blonde, and gray hair--as well as pearls and glass beads. The hair is woven into flowers, buds and leaves of different types. Hair weaving was a Victorian art and this artist was skilled. The piece is in very nice condition with no damage to the wreath or the lace is it mounted on, the frame has no breaks, just minor scratches in the faux rosewood and the gold bezel has been repainted. Glass could use cleaning inside. Beautiful piece from the 1800\'s. The wreath is in a shadow box frame which measures 20 1/2\" long, 18\" wide, 4\" deep. It is faux rosewood made of gesso over wood. The inside bezel is gilded and there is glass over the wreath. The wreath itself is 12\" in diameter and features several different colors of hair--dark and light brown, blonde, a bit of red and gray. The hair is woven into flowers,buds and leaves of many different types. Hair weaving was a Victorian art and this artist was very skilled.

The piece is in very nice condition with no damage to the wreath or the lace is it mounted over, the frame has no breaks, just minor scratches in the faux rosewood. The gold bezel has been repainted and the lace is probably not original. The glass could use cleaning. Fine piece of Victorian folk art. Thanks for looking.
