This sale is for the one-of-a-kind, hand-drawn, original comic artwork by Jack Kirby (pencil) and Wally Wood (ink) for the Sky Masters daily of October 13. The year is not included in the copyright. However, although I cannot warrant it, Ibelieve this is from 1958 and just the second month of the comic strip\'s run. I hate to part with this masterpiece! This beautiful artwork showcases Kirby and Wood\'s great skills in all three panels. The first iconic panel features the countdown reaching zero and the rocket blasting off. The second panel features awesome closeups of the faces of the people in the control room, dripping with emotion, including a very Wood-esque beautiful female character. Main character, Sky Masters, is featured in panel three, as he experiences bone-rattling vibrations from the rocket\'s liftoff--theartists did a great job illustrating the extreme vibrations. The entire art board measures 20 1/2\" w x 8 7/8\" h and the image area inside the borders is 17 7/8\" x 5 3/8\". The medium is pen and india ink on two-ply art board. For being 57 years old, the artwork is in excellent overall condition. Theart board isfairly thin and is a cream color. The syndicate\'s copyright sticker is still firmly attached. The ink is still rich and deep. The originalzipatone shading is still firmly attached, with no staining to the board beneath. The corners arestill fairly sharp. The art board is cut unevenly, presumably by the artist. There are some editor\'s pencilled measurements in the lower border andseveral splotches of white ink in the upper border covering up stains or notes. White ink is visible to a lesser degree to cleanup the art around several balloons. There is a neatly done paste-over correction to the second and third lines of the first balloon in the first panel. Judge the condition of the artwork for yourself--the pictures above are high resolution scans of the artwork. The artwork is all in one piece. Due to the size of the art being too large for my scanner, I have included images of the overall artwork which are divided in two scans that overlap in the middle, showing all of theborder areas, so the entire piece could be viewed. Sky Masters comic strips done by Kirby and Wood are highly sought after by collectors. Kirby and Wood are considered to be two of the giants of comic art history (source Wikipedia). I am a serious comic art collector who is \"thinning the herd,\" as my collection has grown too large. This piece has been in my collection for at least ten years. It is the last Sky Masters strip I own, so don\'t hold back thinking I will be listing more. offer with confidence, based on my perfect response record.
