This is a very fine Meiji period hand wrought Japanese sterling silver tea service.
We are selling our 40 year collection of Japanese silver.
Over 250 examples.
From Kuhn & Komor. The Japanese shop only briefly had a shop in Shanghai.
In wide panel fluted tapering urn form. Beautifully applied and hand decorated streaming bamboo. Well cast and fit petal fluted covers with original bamboo stalk and flowing leaf finials.
Marked Sterling Kuhn & Komor and Shanghai.
This set was never monogrammed.
This Japanese sterling teapot is 8 1/2 inches the set is 36 1/2 standard ounces.
In fine condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. Stands firm on table. The applied and hand chased bamboo retains original detail. Teapot few small bumps, missing one leaf and outer layer of handle heat spacers as shown.
