Up for your consideration is a circa 1950s handmade sterling silver bracelet made by Maestro silversmith Jose Luis Flores. According to Bille Hougart\'s book on Mexican jewelry hallmarks, \"Flores worked for Hector Aguilar at the Taller Borda for many years. An accomplished designer, many of his designs were produced with Aguilar\'s marks\".
This bracelet, marked JLF, is a Hector Aguilar design of the 1940s and 50s. The name of the design is Remolino. The exact design is also shown on page 88 in the book \"Silver Masters of Mexico\" by Penny C. Morill but it was attributed to Valentin Vidaurreta. He called the design \"Fleur de Lis\" and supposedly was inspiration for other designers at the Taller Borda.
The bracelet is made up of silver panels linked together with silver rings. The design and construction allow the ends of each panel to slightly overlap like fish scales and easily follow the curvature of your wrist. The design is intricate, taking hours to get each curve to perfectly align. The bending and twisting of the silver is a true art. Closure is a flat hook and silver eye. This bracelet and the matching necklace (see separate sale for necklace) are truly something to treasure now and down through the generations.
