Each pencil is in their distinctive purple color and reads in gold print \"Personally Yours - K&B Drug Stores.\" The abbreviation, K&B, is for Katz and Besthoff which was a famous drugstore opened in New Orleans in 1905 and operated for 92 years. It was then purchased by the national chain Rite-Aid. K&B was so well known for their unique purple color of employee uniforms and private labels that we in New Orleans referred to its purple shade as K&B purple.
