Description: Now we are offering this HEAVY 18k yellow gold pin signed by Kurt Wayne (history below). It depicts two ruby-eyed ducks sitting in the water, rather nose-to-nose (or beak-to-beak), amongst the cattails. It is expertly designed with incredible detail & the finely textured finished feathers really give this LIFE! I have sold several of Wayne’s animal pieces and this is one of the most intricate he ever did...nobody does it better! Did I mention is weighs 33.6 grams?!

History: Born in Vienna, Austria in 1909, Kurt Wayne spent his earliest years in a Catholic orphanage. At age ten, his life was changed when he was placed in the care of a jeweler where he spent the subsequent years learning the crafts of goldsmithing, diamond setting & watchmaking.

As a married man of 30, Wayne & his wife left Austria in 1939 as WWII grew imminent, with America as their final destination. Even though neither could read or speak English, they taught each other over time & persevered through their early hardships. Wayne worked at Willian Halpern making handmade watchbands & in 1945 branched out in his own business. With unlimited vision, Wayne became an acknowledged style maker & trendsetter.
