This is a 1954 Leitz Leica M3 Camera # 700712. Germany

I amselling this camera for my friend, I have taken many pictures but I myself haveno knowledge about this camera. So if you have any questions please email meand please give me time to get back to you for I would need to contact myfriend. I am hoping that you as thebuyer will see all the pictures and see all that you are offerding on.

I am alsolisting this as a (Rangefinder) because in the instruction book it states thatthe interchangeable lenses ELMAR f/3.5 50mm SUMMICRON f/2 50mm and one form ofthe ELMAR f/4 can be partially pushed into the camera body.

This camera was inspected by ourlocal camera shop August 12, 2014

The Camera store guy removed the lens to check its lubricant(whale seaman is what is used as lubricant) and said it is in good working condition.He also inspected the meter flash and he was surprised that it still worked.The meter on top of camera also worked. He also said that the lens has a veryminor scratch but had nothing to do with the value of the camera to takequality pictures. After the Camera man did his inspection he than offered tobuy the camera from him. As you can seemy friend did not take his offer.

This Camera only had one owner and it was bought new July15, 1954.

Theinstruction book shows wear and on the front of the user manual there iswriting on it. The Leather case is dirty and it does have some scratchers inthe leather.

After all it is a Sixty year old leather Case andCamera. The whole thing weighs about 9.6lbs. I consider myself as an excellent packer and once I find the perfect boxwhich I hope to find one that is at least 16\"L x 6\"W x12\"H. Estimate for shipping wouldbe about $35.70. I truly do not want toship outside of the USAbut if you are an out of the country buyer than I would have to get back witha different price for shipping. The same goes for Hawaiiand Alaska.

Also below is a copy of information that was sent to me from a camera expert who was following this item.

This camera is VERY rare.

It has a low serial number (it is the 712th camera producedof this model,

of which there were over 400,000 made). That alone makes itworth about 4-5

times what the normal Leica M3 is worth. However, what makesthis camera

even MORE rare, is that it has a \"corner\", on theupper left front of the

camera (you can google this). This \"corner\" waslater smoothed out, and

only a very small amount of those first 1000 cameras have thiscorner. A

similar camera to yours (without associated documentation)sold recently

for $22,000. Isuspect that THIS camera, because it has all the documentation, should be worthabout $25,000 to $35,000 at sale.

A typical camera store might price it outat $45,000.
