Beautiful little miniature named bronze medal for Life Saving from the Royal Humane Society. The miniature is approx. 20mm in dia. and has the standard blue ribbon of 1867 with Victorian bronze buckle suspension pin. The medal is contained in its original blue velvet and silk lined case and has the engravers name of \"Warrington Engraver to the Queen,23 Carrick St.St.Martins Lane, London.The medal is engraved around the edge with the recipients name,\"Lieut.Richard Webb.\"The records read as follows:-

On the 4th February 1898, an ordinary seaman of HMS Magnificent was accidentally knocked overboard from the ship\'s cutter in Portland Roads. There was a heavy sea and the weather very cold. Webb at once sprang in and supported the man for some time, when both were picked up by a boat.
