Price: US $9.99

This photo is an excellent high quality new 8” x 10” black & white glossy photo reproduction of a late 1920s/early 1930s MODEL ‘AC’ or ‘AK’ MACK ‘Six-Wheeler’ Pulling an Arched-Gooseneck Lowbed Trailer Loaded with a P&H MODEL 600 Dragline, all 3 units owned by J. W. PETERS, Inc., Burlington, Wisconsin.

”SAMPLE” will not appear on your photo, it is only on the scanned image.

DESCRIPTION: A pneumatic-tired ‘AC’ or ‘AK’ MACK “Six-Wheeler’ dump truck is pulling a Hard-Rubber-Tired lowbed full-trailer with a P&H MODEL 600 Dragline loaded on the trailer with its uniquely designed boom hanging over and in front of the Mack. This style boom was called a “camelback” boom, rigged with boom cables to the top of the center joint. This design allowed the boom to be disconnected in the center joint for easy transportation. The arched-gooseneck on the lowbed trailer looks very similar to the popular ROGERS lowboys made in Albion, PA. Fastened by rivets, the axle with solid rubber tires under the gooseneck facilitated towing. The AC/AK has gas headlights with ‘Adlake’ lanterns on the cowl, an open “C Cab”, and a pressurized tank on the rear of the front fender to supply fuel to the headlights. The P&H 600 Dragline would have been powered by either a Waukesha gasoline engine or a Buda diesel. This photo has a white border on all 4 sides.

MACK “AC” and “AK”: The famous Mack Model “AC” was the truck that made Mack famous around the world, and was known as the “Bulldog” Mack for its rugged dependability in WWI Europe ... a nickname that stuck and gave rise to the phrase “Tough as a Mack truck”. Some 40,200 “AC” Macks were produced from 1916 to 1938, one of the longest production runs of any model truck. Built with a 4-cylinder gas engine and a 4-speed transmission with chain-drive, the “AC” was well suited for tough construction work. The split side-radiator behind the engine, allowed for a sloping hood design and better driver visibility. A ‘motometer’ sits atop the center of the rear mounted radiator, for the driver to monitor engine temperature, manually opening and closing the side radiator louvers to cool or warm the engine. The Six-Wheeler was growing in popularity in certain states during the 1920s. Mack announced their first Six-Wheeler in 1927, with a Krohn Compensator for proportioning the power between the two rear axles, or bogie, as the unit grouping of the 4-rear wheels was called. The MODEL ‘AK’ was also introduced in 1927, having the same radiator and hood design as the ‘AC’, but with basic engineering differences, including the engine and brakes. Some 2,819 ‘AK’ trucks were produced from 1927-1936. Mack would eventually patent their own Power-Divider for the AC, AK, AP, BX and BQ models.
