Description: An early Pearlware or Soft Paste Banded Mocha Pitcher with Earthworm Slip decoration, Staffordshire, England, ca.1820-1840. Bulbous form with pour spout and applied strap handle with foliate terminals. Decorated on the body with alternating bands of Blue and Mocha Slip flanking a wide, central Taupe band with a continuous Earthworm design.

Condition: Good overall with strong color, desirable decoration and imperfections noted below. A curving, albeit stable hairline extends through the base and up into the body (below the spout and near lower handle terminal; see photos). Two shallow flakes on spout, left side. Moderate staining associated with hairline noted on both the interior and exterior. See photos for complete details and close-ups. Please consider them as part of the description. Measures approximately 6”H x 7”W, including the handle and spout. The base, body and rim diameters are 3-1/2”, 5” and 3-3/4”, respectively.
