Here we have the highlysought after 1937 Crosley ‘Fiver’ model 517 mirror dial table radio. Thisbeautiful set features a gorgeous walnut cabinet, lighted mirror dial whichcreates stunning reflections and 3D like effect, great Art Deco appeal, loop antennaandoutstanding performanceacross the AM broadcast and shortwave bands.
Cabinet:The American walnut cabinet is simply gorgeous.Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. Stylish rounded sides,coupled with an attractive grill, makes for a classic Art Deco look. Everythingcomes together magnificently with the amazing lighted mirror dial. It is quitethe sight to behold with the reflections it casts while either in a bright roomor dark room when the dial lamp is illuminated.Dark walnut tonesadd depth and elegance to finish the cabinet off with style. This highly desirable radio is sure tobe the main attraction in any room of the home or office you choose to displayit in.
Dial/Knobs:The lighted mirror dial is simply amazing. One ofthe most attractive dials any radio has to offer (which is why Crosley patentedit). This is a very early run of this model as can be seen by the \'dial patent applied for\' inscribed at the top of the dial. Later models had dial patent pendingor dial patent with the #. The dial is designed with a gold mirror back, coupled with a protrudingglass front, which displays all the station frequencies and Crosley ‘Fiver’emblem in reverse paint. This causes a magnificent 3D like effect withspectacular reflections. Very unique from any other radio dials. Whether thereflections are cast by natural light during the day, or by the bright diallamp in a dark room, it is quite the sight! And take note to the WLW near thebottom left (70) on the dial. This was Crosley’s original station call letters! The dial glass and mirror have been polished and are in great shape showingvirtually no signs of wear. All three knobs are perfect and work as follows;on/off & volume, tuning, and band switch.
Grill Cloth: The 1930’s stylegrill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring awhiskeygold color with an Art Deco geometric design. This grill cloth can also be purchased separately onour other sales.
Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The radio plays very well on both the AM broadcast and shortwave bands. I\'m able to pick up many stations, near and far, with beautiful tone and plenty of volume using just the loop antenna. I will also include an additional copper line antenna for even stronger reception.

The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo avigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of thewood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this byremoving all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinetwith fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishesare filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any fillerapplied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beautyof the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand.We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied inthe same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. Weuse a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLPturbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer isvery thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep intothe grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coatalong with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours ofwork are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is abeautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. My radios are expertly packed using oversized boxes, many layers ofbubble wrap, and several inches of packing peanuts surrounding each side of theradio so you can be assured they arrive safely. USPS economy is my defaultshipping method to save on shipping charges. USPS Priority or UPS can berequested at a higher rate.
Policies / Warranty: Weoffer a 14 day money back guarantee (buyer pays return shipping withprofessional packing) if the radio has been grossly misrepresented. Our radiosare accurately described and in working order when shipped out. In rareinstances however, as with any vintage electronics, minor problems can occurduring shipment due to the age and delicacy of antique radio parts. If yourradio arrives and does not work please let us know. We will gladly walk youthrough the process of troubleshooting to get it started. If that fails tocorrect the problem we will pay for return shipping to us, diagnose and fix theproblem, and return the radio to you. We also offer a 30 day warranty on all the tubes, capacitors,resistors, and filters. Due to the design of some antique radio parts we cannotwarranty transformers, coils, tuners, and speakers. However, if at any timethese parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing thedefective part at minimal cost. Finally, in very rare instances, ifthere is shippingdamage aUSPS insurance claim request must be made to me from the buyer immediately uponreceipt of the radio. A USPS inspection of the radio, boxes, and all packingmaterials is required. The refund will be issued upon USPS approval and paymentof the insurance claim.

The antenna will be included with the sale but I cannot guaranteereception quality in your area. It may differ (better or worse) depending onyour location, surroundings, and interference.
