Rare large Farnell \'Pip\' dog from the Pip, Squeak and Wilfred cartoon strip circa 1920\'sThis fantastic, large black mohair dog was manufactured by Farnell during the 1920\'s. He is known as \'Pip\' and was a character
in the cartoon strip \'Pip, Squeak and Wilfred\' which featured in the Daily Mirror from 1919 until the 1930\'s. I am also listing a very
rare, jointed (and ex blue) Wilfred rabbit who can be seen in the last photo but this sale is for \'Pip\' dog only.Pip is 5 ways jointed with all his joints working smoothly and is 24\" (60 cm) tall from his feet to the top of his head, with his ears
adding an extra 5\" and completely wood wool stuffed. He has a very good coverage of his black mohair with just a little thinning and
some small bare spots but you can see from the photos that his front side and head has faded to a dark olive green colour, although his
arms and his back are a deeper black colour. The white mohair on his muzzle and paws is a little bit sparser but I would still estimate
he has retained 95%+ overall. Pip is in mostly original condition but he has had some repairs to both ankles and to the base of his tail
and has a small tear on his right foot where the internal wire has rubbed against the backing fabric but he is othewise
in very good and sturdy condition for a 90 year old toy. Pip is a fantastic and rare character toy, particularly in this large size. He has a slightly stern expression
