Rare Farnell \'Pip\' dog from the Pip, Squeak and Wilfred cartoon strip circa 1920\'sThis fantastic black mohair dog was manufactured by Farnell during the 1920\'s. He is known as \'Pip\' and was a character
in the cartoon strip \'Pip, Squeak and Wilfred\' which featured in the Daily Mirror from 1919 until the 1930\'s. I am also listing a very
large Wilfred rabbit and a Squeak penguin who can be seen in the last two photos but this sale is for \'Pip\' dog only.Pip is 5 ways jointed with all his joints working smoothly and is 14\" (36 cm) tall from his feet to the top of his head, with his ears
adding an extra 3\" and is completely wood wool stuffed. He has a very good coverage of his black mohair with just a little thinning and
some general small bare spots and some larger bare areas on his bottom where they cant be seen but you can see from the photos that his
mohair is deep black colour with no fading at all. The white mohair on his muzzle and paws is a little bit sparser but I would still estimate
he has retained 90- 95% overall. Pip is in original condition with no holes or tears or repairs to the backing fabric and the only
replacements are his back painted glass eyes which are from my own vintage collection. They are not an exact match but
they suit him very well and he is othewise in very good original and sturdy condition for a 90 year old toy. Pip is a fantastic and rare character toy, particularly in this very nice condition. He has a slightly stern expression
but is nevertheless a very loveable dog and he would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
