This week I will be listinga Civil War Collection from the Estate of a Virginia native. The collection was amassed during the 1970s and 80s and was focused on mostly Confederate Statesbuckles and buttons. Most of the pieces are dug but not all. Please look at my sales to view this important collection. A lot of themwere wired to a frame and marked on the back. I have done my best to preservethe marked pieces and include them in the individual sales.This piece is quite rare due to the condition. It is a Confederate States Tongue & Wreath buckle which has not been dug. It retainssome leather remnants and quite a bit of the original gold gilt finish. The gold is rubbed off the high surfaces. You can see the impressions of the buckle in the leather behind it. The buckle measures 3 3/8\" wide x 2\" tall.
