This "Mettoy" "Dan Dare Spaceship Eagle" and box are in "as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored.The spaceship has patches of paint loss underneath the body where it has been pushed down to get the flywheel working. It also has the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would expect from a played with item.The lithographed paint work has retained a good colour, with the detailing, lettering and logos still being legible.The plastic cabin cover is free from any major splits or cracks, however, it does have some scuffs. The flywheel drive does work, but, it does not produce sparks. The box has suffered a little, one of the end flaps is missing a tab and there are creases and small tears to the ends and folds, however, the fabulous illustrations have a good colour. This fabulous "Mettoy" "Dan Dare Spaceship Eagle" and box are in "as found" condition and has not been repaired or restored.
The spaceship has patches of paint loss underneath the body where it has been pushed down to get the flywheel working. It also has the usual scuffs, marks and scratches that you would expect from a played with item of this age.
The lithographed paint work has retained a good colour, with the detailing, lettering and logos still being legible. I have tried to show the condition in the photographs.
The plastic cabin cover is free from any major splits or cracks, however, it does have some scuffs.
The flywheel drive does work, however, it does not produce sparks.
The box has suffered a little, one of the end flaps is missing a tab and there are creases and small tears to the ends and folds, however, the fabulous illustrations have a good colour.
This is a rare and wonderful tinplate toy that would grace any collection.
The airship measures 22 cm (8 3/4 inches) long.
