Very good condition and guaranteed original pre WWI ImperialGerman SG-98 Mauser quillback bayonet. Maker marked “V.C. SCHILLING SUHL” onthe right side blade ricasso and dated 1906 on the spine. Bayonet is unitmarked “169.R.2.136.” on the left side of the guard for issue to the 169th(8th Baden) Infantry Regiment, Company 2, Weapon 136. Blade hasoriginal bright finish with some scattered gray and has been sharpened.Remaining metal finish is largely brown. Wood grips have original finish andshow some wear and handling marks. Lock button functions fine. Fitted incorrect original leather scabbard that has steel throat and tip. Leather showssome normal wear, stitching and staples are nice and tight. Scabbard is unitmarked “B.17.R.1.190.” on the throat for issue to the 17th RoyalBavarian Infantry Regiment “Orff”, Company 1, Weapon 190. A nice prewar SG-98bayonet for your collection.
