I have held hundreds of silver estate sales over the years being our specialty. Although this is not my largest sale by volume, I believe this sale has the largest amount of quality and choice examples that I have ever offered at one time. The items are from a prominent and important estate collection that I have been commissioned to liquidate. A large portion of the pieces being offered are family heirlooms. The items listed are from the private family collection of choice examples that were kept over the years in a large walk in vault. I almost fainted when I was invited into the vault and seen this amazing treasure trove! Up for sale with is a Rare and Incredible c1870 New York Sterling Silver 5pc Tea and Coffee Service. The Service is one of the finest 19th Century American sets I have sold in a very, very long time and to find a complete service is very Rare I am sure, as most sellers would be selling the pieces individually to maximize profits. The Service is so much finer in real life, my photos can not capture the quality that this set exudes, from the amazing Aesthetic Movement deeplyAcidetched Flower designs to the great band of Repousse stylized Flowers to the amazing handles, Gold Gilt designsand threaded pattern finials. Even the inside of the Cream Jug and Sugar Bowl are richly Gold Gilded. The Service is all original to each other and all the pieces are marked for the Important New York Silversmiths, Wood & Hughes with the service dating around 1870. The Service is in amazing condition with a couple minor dint marks and Gold gilt wear throughoutbut no cracks or repairs. The Handles are nice and sturdy and the deeply etched designs are crisp, the service was very well taken care all of it\'s life. The Service also features a nice original owner\'s monogram that is so fancy it could be almost anything you like :) The Service includes a Coffee Pot measuring 6\" tall by 11\" long, a Teapot measuring 5-3/4\" tall by 10-1/2\" long, a Cream Pitcher standing 4-1/4\" tall at the spout, an open Sugar Bowl measuring 5\" wide across the bodyand a Tea Caddy Jar or LiddedWaste Bowl measuring 5\" tall. The Service is also Very Thick Sterling Silver throughout with a quality weight of2555 grams combined. If you collect 19th Century American Silver this is a must have and I doubt you will find another service quite like this, especiallyup for sale without reserve !
