Rare 1960\'s Horikawa Fighting Martian Tin Toy Robot, as is
Price: US $52.99
Rare Vintage Fighting Martian Robot by Horikawa. Made in the 1960\'s in Japan. Battery operated tin.
Apparently this is the more unusual variant of three robots Horikawa made in the 1960\'s.The series included a FightingRobot, a Fighting Astronaut and this toy: a Fighting Martian.
This toy has some condition issues, the door to the battery compartment is missing and there is damage to thebattery set up. There is rust in several places particularly in and around the battery compartment, on the shoes andlegs andminor rust or age to some of the unpainted tin surfaces such as around the eyes and ears. The plastic cover to the torso of the robot has a crack and the plastic cap to the head gear has some minor scratching. There are some bites out of the little red balls on the antennas. This toy was certainly played with and enjoyed.
When working, the robot was battery operated and had multiple actions, moving gears and mechanisms. The ray gun in the chest fired with sound and light and the arms swung as the robot strode forward as the antenna moved. This model has theunusual detail of a gear head enclosed in a plastic cap.
The robot stands 11 3/8\" tall.
Despite the various condition issues described, this is a fabulous and unusual robot with lots and lots of personality. The colors are bright, the graphics clear and the parts are all there with the exception of the battery compartment door andbattery holder contacts.
Displays well or is a good candidate for restoration or even use for parts. Restoration parts are available for these robots.Very collectible.
Sold as is.
