It is cast into the top edge, B & O RR CO., there is no makers name or marks I could find anywhere. A great rare lantern, it has been cleaned, strong and sturdy, no rusted through holds or repairs, no dents or splits on the brass top or bottom. The handle is brass, the clasp that tightens the top to thebase is brass. It stands 16 inches tall to the top of the handle when it is up, 12.5 inches tall to the top of the acorn finial with the handle down. The bell bottom measures 6.5 inches across in diameter. it still retains the original screw in font, it came with a later signed B.&O. R.R. globe that I will include in the sale. It stands 5.5 inches tall, 2 3/8 inches across the top and 3 1/4 inches across the bottom to give you an idea of what kind of globe it takes, it does fit the cagebut is a little loose, it has no chips or cracks.
