Up for offer is an antique McGregor marine chronometer for parts or restoration. The clock was made around mid to late 1800’s in England. Total weight of clock: approx. 10 lbs. The case measures 7 inches by 7 inches by 7 1/2 inches tall. The wood case is double hinged with brass handles on the left/right sides. I was told that the case may not be original but I cannot say for sure. The bottom lid is lockable with a key (included) and the top lid opens by using any pointed object (missing button). The clock face is stamped MAKERS TO THE ADMIRALTY D. MCGREGOR & CO. GLASGOW GREENOCK LIVERPOOL LONDON MADE IN ENGLAND The dial is in good shape. Missing all the hands but all the posts are present and appear to be undamaged. The clock rests on a brass lockable gimbal which is in good shape. The clock movement is fully wound but does not run. It will tick when you give it a shake and will run for around 10 seconds and stop. Not sure on the condition of the balance pivots or jewels. What I do know is that the detent is missing. The chain is still attached. The wood case is in good shape with normal wear. I’m sure this would make a great project for anyone with the time, expertise, and resources. Sold as is, as found.
