IMPORTANT COLLECTION MUSEUM PROVENANCE.

Listed this week is an amazing and very fine estate collection of Chinese jade and stone carvings that includes some interesting and fine scholarly stone objects. There are some fabulous and rarely found pieces listed including items with Museum provenance, I believe being some of the finest carvings I have offered. Collections such as this do not come up for sale very often, this is surely a sale not to be missed!

Up for sale is a Very Fine 18/19thc Chinese Carved Rock Crystal Dragon Figural Scholars Water Pot with Stand. The water pot is a very fine example that I am told would date from the 18th to 19th century period. The water pot also comes with a superbly carved stand that also has good and legitimate age to it and compliments the water pot very nicely. The water pot has some natural inclusions in the rock crystal as commonly found on examples like this. The water pot and stand are in very fine condition with no damage or repairs. The Water Pot displays beautifully measuring 3 1/8 inches wide, by 2 1/2 inches deep, and sits 1 5/8 inches tall. The pot sits 2 1/2 inches tall with its stand.

Provenance: This water pot has very good provenance along with other examples also from this collection. The pot was accessioned (sold) by the Carnegie Museum of Fine Arts in Pittsburg to raise money for new construction projects. This pot was acquired by the museum from the Important George H Taber Asian arts collection. The pot has George Taber’s original collection inventory numbers in black, along with the Museum inventory numbers in red. Mr. Taber is well noted as being a very knowledgeable high-end collector of Asian arts in the earlier 1900’s period. A good number of items from his collection have been published in books and have achieved substantial amounts at high-end sale sales including a number of pieces that achieved upwards of 1 million US dollars at Sotheby’s and Christies sales.
