Rare Numbered Imperial Order of the Dragon Member Medal
Price: US $581.50

Extremely rare Imperial Order of the Dragon Medal, number 805, issued to David P. Graham for his service during the Boxer Rebellion. According to the US Army Register of Enlistments, Graham was enlisted at Springfield Massachusetts into C Company of the 15th Infantry Regiment on 28 May 1900 and was discharged at Monterey California on 27 May 1903. This register indicates that Graham was born inWoodstock Canada circa 1879. C Company 15th Infantryarrived inChina along with the 1st Battalion of the 15th on 13 August 1900. C Company was assigned the task of protecting the Tientsin Arsenal where it remained until 28 November. After its China Relief Expedition service, the 15th Infantry served in the Philippines before returning in February 1902 to the US at Monterey California, where it assisted in the establishment and building of the current Presidio. Graham definitely received the US Army China Relief Expedition Service Medal, but that medal was soldseparately in a different sale bya different seller. Based on my limited research Graham also would have qualified for the Philippine Campaign Medal. The Imperial Order of the Dragon was formally established in 1908 andmembership consisted of anyone in the US Armed Forces who had served in China during the Boxer Rebellion period. There were twovariations of the IOD medal, one with the dragon on a rectangular bar, and this version with a separate coiled dragon; approximately 1300 of both typeswere awarded. The available membership records conform medal#805 as issued to D.P. Graham. Medal is in excellent condition with original ribbon and brooch. See photos.
