Poulat started Matl in 1934 and I believe this necklace to be an early example (note the signature and exceptional hand chased detail). This is one of the finest examples of Matl jewelry I have seen. It would have taken many hours to produce all of the hand worked detail seen on the doves and flowers. The necklace measures approx 18 1/2\" long with the central element measuring approx 2 5/8\" x 1 3/8\". It is simply marked with the early \"MATL\" script mark on the back (the piece has been tested and is guaranteed to be sterling silver). The condition is excellent with no damage and only light signs of wear. An extraordinary piece of Mexican silver suited for an advanced collector.
