Recently we were able to secure some of the salvage rights to one ofthe most famous steel & shipyards, Bethlehem Steel. These flags were used during the production and launching of the famousWWIILIBERTY Cargo Ships out of Baltimore. In January, 1941, President Roosevelt announced a $350,000,000 shipbuilding program to help win World War II. By September an emergency shipbuilding program had been launched. Shipyards located in thirteen states were involved in a class of cargo ships called "liberty ships." They were called liberty ships because the first one launched was the SS Patrick Henry. The ship was launched in 1941. During the dedication President Roosevelt referred to Patrick Henry's phrase "Give me liberty...or give me death." Roosevelt told America that these ships would bring liberty to Europe. That is why they were known as liberty ships. The SS Patrick Henry was built by the Bethlehem-Fairfield Shipyard in Maryland.

About Us

MDIndustrial Salvageis a different type of recycling company. We have operated in Baltimore and surrounding areas since 1996. After starting out rescuing fireplace mantles and cast iron door locks from construction dumpsters, we have opened our eyes to many types of waste that are overlooked and often fall through the cracks. Our focus is, and will always be vintage items of the highest quality. All of our items are salvaged and are for the most part American made. One week we could be in an old school, the next week a factory, and the following week a Shipyard or Power Plant. One day we may be removing Vintage lighting, the next Signs and Vintage blueprints, and the following day we clean out the Machine shop and parts crib.

We literally have NO idea what we have coming around the corner, so make sure you add us to your favorites and check back often . ALSO, check out our sister site Architectural Rescue for items of a morecollectiblenature.

We are not a non-profit, but prefer to call ourselves a VIRTUALnon-profit. You can help us change that by purchasing our finds from our store, and offerding vigorously on our sales. With your support, it will better enable us to track down historic job sites to salvage before it's to late.
