You are offerding on a museum quality tray by widely collected Georgiapotter Ron Meyers.

DESCRIPTION: Thismasterful effort from the always exceptional Ron Meyers is an oval try with agently recessed interior. There onefinds an artfully executed depiction of three overlapping fish heads in matteblue, grayish-green, and bluish-beige tones.The fish are brought to life with well place incised markings, cobaltblue and black highlights, and deft black and white brushwork that impliesbared sharp teeth. A dark green rim setoff by an incised ring nicely frames the artful imagery contained within itsborders. In typical Meyers fashion, therim of the piece is wonderfully wavy and the foot ring steady and balanced.

This highly collectible workmeasures 11 ¼” long by 9 ½” wide and stands app 1 1/3” high at the rim. It is in mint condition- no chips, cracks orrepairs- and, as with all of Ron Meyers’ work- is unmarked.

ABOUT RON MEYERS: Aswith the work of his former studio mate Michael Simon, the pottery of RonMeyers rarely stays available for sale for very long. Working with red earthenware, Ron\'sfunctional pots are made in a casual and spontaneous manner reflecting thejuiciness of the material as well as the pleasure of the process. His narrative, colored slip paintings thatfloat on the surface in a gestural expressionistic style can be bothprovocative and confrontational. RonMeyers holds B.S. (1956) and M.S. (1961) degrees in art education from StateUniversity of New York College at Buffalo. He taught at the University of SouthCarolina, Columbia, SC from 1967-1972. He then spent the next 20 years teachingat the University of Georgia in Athens where he retired as Professor Emeritus. He has traveled and taughtextensively, and each passing year finds his pots in ever greater demand among asteadily widening group of appreciate collectors.
