This is an authentic, guaranteed ancient and prehistoric Anasazi White Mountain Redware,St Johns Polychrome Bowl, ca 1150-1300 AD.
Dimensions are 11in x 6in. This bowl is glued together from 8-10 large sherds, and all are original.The white design on the exterior is all original, as is the black design on the interior.There are two ancient drill holes.
There are 2 small areas of restoration on the rim, the larger of the 2 shown clearly in pictures 3 and 4.There is an area on the interior where the red slip spalted off, and red paint was added to diminish the cream color of the original clay underneath.Pictures 7 and 8 were taken in bright sunshine to show this area clearly, and picture 8 shows the total area of this restoration.
This bowl was purchased around 1995 from a major sale house out of New York, in accordance with all state and federal laws.I will supply a lifetime certificate of authenticity with this bowl.More info on this pottery can be found at rarepottery.info, a most excellent website.
