This is one of those \'American Beauties.\' This is an early Vogue Ginny doll with an original mohair wig and a transitional face. She is probably from 1951 or she could be as early as 1950.
Let\'s discuss her wig first. It is made of mohair which was often the wig of choice on early strung, Vogue Ginny dolls. I have no reason to believe this wig is not original to this doll. It fits the era of the doll and the face of the doll. This wig is one of the best mohair wigs I have ever seen. Hardly ever do you see a wig with a curl all around the back of the doll\'s head. Usually, these wigs have breaks in the curl and parts of the hair that don\'t \'follow\' the curl. When you try to comb the hair, you often end up pulling out the hair of the wig. It\'s frustrating. So, you can leave this wig pretty much alone because it holds the curl so well!
Now to her pretty face. She has the tricolor eyes that are so typical of the transitional Ginny doll--the early sleep-eyed Ginny. Her eye openings are smaller than some of the later strung Ginny dolls......That\'s another distinction with some of the early, sleep-eyed Ginny dolls. She has the muted lips of a transitional and the cheek color that is rosy but not deep.
Her body is great with realistic, skin tone all over. No stains, cracks, splits, spots, or scratches. I did a side view because the seam on the outside of her leg is pronounced but not cracked. You may or may not be able to see that in the picture. Her stringing is tight, and the bands appear to original. I find this to be hard to believe because the bands are so tight. Whether the bands are the original ones or some newer replacements, the doll has excellent tension. The arms will hold a pose easily. The doll stands alone easily. And you can put the doll in a sitting position with no problem.
This sale is for this wonderful doll ONLY. The pink hair bow seen is some of the pictures is NOT included nor is any outfit. The outfit you do see is already listed in a separate sale. Please feel free to ask any questions. And, good luck. This is one of those rare and great Ginny dolls!
