A cool lightweight summer ensemble in this sturdy condition is truly a rare find. Constructed in soft buttery solid cotton and beautiful royal blue embroidered eyelet cotton; I am sure both were designed to be included with each other to create this ensemble. It has scalloped edging on every area where the embroidered fabric was used; including the panels in the front and back bodice. The hidden front button closure bodice with 6 metal stays is completely lined in gauze which is in very good condition; a rarity to be sure.
The very wide peplum ruffle that flows from front to back is a perfect accommodation to the lovely French blue silk 2.75\" wide satin and silk ribbon in the back. A skirt that also is lined in matching gauze, it has multi layers of ruffles as the center while the back is double paneled with the center have the cartridge pleats to accent the bustled effect.
In overall very sound condition; very wearable condition. There is appropriate signs of age, usually referred to as foxing; this I believe if properly soaked will easily come out. After carefully examining, I have found no tears or holes; one button hole are in the back of skirt will need to be repaired. There is very minimal organic underarm and neck marks which proves to me that this ensemble was probably worn only one time, most likely for a very special event. Approx. Measurements are 34\" bust, 24\" waist and the skirt is 42\" from top of waistband to hem. The mannequin modeling it is a size 2. This magnificent ensemble will make a superb display and would be absolutely stunning if someone is wearing it. Happy offerding!
