This is an extremely rare old handmade German Sulphide Marble with a painted/colored figure of a Cat or Dog...brown spots, tail, ears and facial features seated on green ground.

The figure has nice detail and is well centered in the marble. It has a silvery sheen with no air bubbles attached to the figure. There are a few small air bubbles suspended around the figure and they can be seen in the photos...(they are not hitmarks/moons, just bubbles). The marble fluoresces under a black light. The marble has been polished and the pontil is no longer visible.

It measures approx 1 1/8" (1.134") and has a nicely polished surface with just a few little faint signs of damage remaining.

This is a fantastic opportunity...you seldom see sulphides with colored figures offered for sale...and my consignor has generously offered this one with !
